The Atlanta Interviews:
Since the winter of 2024, Kevin Kirkwood has traveled to Atlanta to spend time with artists working within one of the South’s most interconnected creative ecosystems. Recorded in studios and shared workspaces throughout the city, these conversations reflect a place shaped by collaboration, circulation, and constant exchange.
Rather than focusing on finished work, the episodes linger on beginnings; how projects start, stall, and find direction. Artists speak about process, material, and momentum, as well as the relationships and infrastructures that support sustained creative labor. In Atlanta, ideas often move quickly between people and disciplines, and that movement becomes part of the conversation.
The Strand exists in the space between studio practice and lived experience, allowing meaning to emerge through place, movement, and dialogue. With each episode, it becomes a living archive of contemporary creative practice; how ideas evolve, how artists push forward, and how art continues to shape our cultural landscape.
