The Florida Interviews:
Kevin Kirkwood travels frequently to Florida to meet artists where they live and work, capturing on-location conversations across the state’s diverse cultural and geographic landscapes. Recordings take place in studios, homes, and informal workspaces from autumn 2023 to the present, highlighting the everyday conditions of making.

Most episodes seek to understand when and why people make what they make. Conversations focus on process, material, and sustained creative labor, tracing how ideas begin, shift, and persist over time, and how local context informs artistic practice. The Strand exists in the space between studio practice and lived experience, allowing meaning to emerge through place, movement, and dialogue.

With each episode, The Strand becomes a living archive of contemporary creative practice; how ideas evolve, how artists push forward, and how art continues to shape our cultural landscape.
