This series of paintings were created by applying acrylic paint on to a canvas made from painter’s tape. Similar in fashion to the placement of wood that is used in the construction of lap siding, each canvas is created by placing strips of blue painter’s tape on to my studio wall. The first strip sits just above and parallel to the wall’s base board. The next strip is placed above and slightly overlaps the previous strip. This process is repeated so that I achieve the desired dimensions for my canvas. Each painting was made and then placed back onto the original cardboard roll.
The use of temporary materials reaffirms Kevin’s interest in exploring the fragility of life.
