ABSTRACT:
In downtown Savannah, Georgia, Alexander Hall sits just below the Talmadge bridge and south of the river. It was built in the early 1940’s to house the Centennial Mill Flour Company. Less than a decade later, it would become the Alexander Grocery Store. In more recent years, this building has become a place where people can walk into and strengthen their creative muscles. Alexander Hall is one of the songs that can be found in the soundtrack of the people who enter its doors, and who hold the desire to document what they see in this world.
These bricks were originally part of Alexander Hall’s structural foundation. They helped to support a portion of the first floor, just beneath the current location of the dark room area. These beautiful bricks are readymade art. They have tremendous value as they are. I am looking for interesting ways to provide them with a new life, in a new light.
